Welcome to Block 1400

It's not a place you pass through- it's a place you experience,

where every door has a story and every visit becomes one.

Here's Our Story

Granite City, Route 66. and What Came Next -

Founded in 1896 along the mighty Mississippi River, it grew through steel, railroads, and the steady rhythm of hard work. It was a place defined by movement of materials, of people, of progress.

Then Came Route 66.

When the Mother Road was established in 1926, it didn't just pass through Granite City, it helped define it. In fact, Granite City is one of the few placed where three differed alignmenets of Route 66 once ran through the community, connecting travelers, industry, and opportunity.

For a time, the city became part of a much larger American journey. Travelers passed through. Businesses rose to meet them, and Granite City found itself woven into the fabric of roadside cutlure and connection. But like many towns along Route 66, the road eventually moved on.

And what was left behind wasn't just a highway it was a question:

What Comes Next?

For Granite City, that answer isn't just about the past. It's about reimagining what stop along Route 66 can be.

Today, that Story is being written in a different way. Through roadside attractions that invite people to pause, take a picture, and explore a little longer. Through spaces designed not just to serve-but to create experiences. Through moments of creativeity, connection, and community that turn a quick stop nto something memorable.

At the center of that experience is Block 1400. A place where people can gather, slow down, and step into something unexspected-from tea rooms and game tables to immersive envionments and hidden experiences. But the story doesn't stop there.

From Public Art Roadside Attractions, an Art Center, and even a Speakeasy, that experience extends beyond a single block- inviting vistitors to explore, discover, and see Granite City in a new way.

Not just as a place you pass through, but as a place worth experiencing.

Because what came next wasn't just development. It was the decision to create something that brings people together.

And that story is still being written.

Be Sure to stop in often to see what's Next
